DUTCH BUTTER COOKIES 
1 stick butter
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
Pinch of salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and shortening. Add sugar. Sift flour, soda, salt and add to creamed mixture. Add vanilla. Form a roll and slice. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes. Sprinkle with candies or colored sugar before baking.
