GRANDMOM'S BIRTHDAY CAKE 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. sifted cake flour
4 eggs
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming until light and fluffy (10 minutes) on electric mixer. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, one at a time, to creamed mixture, beating well after each addition. Add flour mixture alternately with milk and flavorings, beating after each addition until smooth. Pour batter into 3 (9 inch) greased and floured pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and turn out of pans. Makes 6 cups of batter.
