1 c. yellow cornmeal 3/4 c. all purpose flour 4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. sugar 1 tsp. salt, optional 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 2/3 c. milk 1 egg, well beaten 1/4 c. finely chopped onion Vegetable oil Combine cornmeal, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and garlic powder in medium bowl. Stir in milk, egg and onion until well blended. Drop by rounded teaspoonful into deep hot oil (375 degrees). Fry until golden brown about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towel. Serve hot. 6 servings. |
