SHOO-FLY PIE 
1 c. unsifted flour
1/4 c. vegetable shortening
1 c. boiling water
1/3 c. dark molasses
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
2/3 c. light corn syrup
1 (9-inch) pastry pie shell

Preheat oven to 375°F. Prepare crumb topping by combining flour, brown sugar and shortening in bowl until mixture resembles course meal. In another bowl, dissolve soda in boiling water. Add molasses and corn syrup; blend well. Pour into unbaked pie shell and sprinkle crumbs evenly over the top.

Bake in the middle of the oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat and continue to bake for 35 minutes or until filling is set. Do not overbake!
