CONNECTICUT BEEF SUPPER 
2 tsp. shortening
2 lbs. cut beef stew
2 lg. onions, sliced
1 c. water
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 1/4 c. Wheaties (crushed)
1 c. sour cream
1 1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 c. shredded Cheddar cheese

Melt shortening in a large skillet. Cook and stir meat, onions, water until boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 50 minutes.

Pour meat mixture into an ungreased cake pan. Arrange potatoes on meat. Stir together soup, sour cream, milk, salt and pepper. Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with cheese, top with crushed cereal. Bake uncovered 1 1/2 hours on 350 degrees.
