STUFFED SHELLS | |
Prepare spaghetti sauce. Cook large shells. Ronzoni brand is excellent (Fazio Market on Drey handles this.) Drain and stuff with following: MEAT MIXTURE: 2 lbs. good ground chuck or round steak 1 lg. egg or 2 sm. eggs 1/4 c. bread crumbs 1 1/2 tsp. salt Pepper 1 tbsp. grated cheese Dash of garlic powder CHEESE MIXTURE: 1 lb. ricotta cheese 1 tbsp. grated bread crumbs 1 tsp. salt Some pepper 1 tsp. grated Parmesan cheese 1 lg. egg CHEESE MIXTURE: Mix ingredients well. Stuff shells, don't over stuff. Layer bottom of large baking dish or pan with spaghetti sauce. Place 1 layer only on pan (of the shells) and cover with spaghetti sauce until all shells are covered. Cover pan with foil and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. (I usually place the meat shells in one pan and the cheese in another.) The cheese need to baked only about 45 minutes. I have extra spaghetti sauce to put on the shells when serving if you like a lot of sauce. |
