CHRISTMAS STEAM PUDDING 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. molasses
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
Nuts
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. buttermilk or sour milk
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolve in milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. dates
1 c. raisins
3 c. flour - approximately

Add all and mix in flour, will be stiff. Steam for 2 or 3 hours.

LICKY DAB SAUCE FOR STEAM PUDDING:

1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. boiling water
Lemon juice to taste
1 tbsp. butter
