FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS 
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter
1 egg
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 c. milk

In large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/3 cup butter and egg. In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating well after each addition.

Spoon into a greased muffin pan about 2/3 full. Bake in a preheated 350°F oven for 20-25 minutes.

Topping:

6 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon

In small saucepan, melt butter. Combine 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in saucer. Remove from oven; immediately dip tops in melted butter, then in cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat the tops. Serve warm.

Makes 12 puffs.
