1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. applesauce
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. red and green chopped gumdrops
1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in hot water
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts

Cream sugar and butter. Add beaten eggs, soda and vanilla. Alternate flour mixture and applesauce. (Sift flour and spices). Add gumdrops and nuts.

Bake in greased pans at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
