EGGNOG BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. brandy or rum flavoring
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 c. dairy or canned eggnog
1 c. chopped candied cherries
1/2 c. chopped almonds
3/4 c. sifted powdered sugar
Milk

Cream first 2 ingredients; blend in 1 teaspoon flavoring. Stir flour with soda, nutmeg, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Add alternately with eggnog to creamed mixture. Stir in cherries and nuts. Spread in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 18 to 20 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon flavoring and enough milk (3 to 4 teaspoons) to make mixture pourable. Drizzle over warm cookies. Cool; cut into bars. Makes 48.
