CHICKEN AND DUMPLINGS 
3 to 4 chicken breasts
1 to 1 1/2 sticks butter
salt
pepper

Dumplings:

2 c. flour
1 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. hot water

Boil chicken until cooked. Remove chicken and let cool, then remove meat from bone and cut up. Put into water that the chicken has boiled in. Add butter, salt and pepper and bring to a boil. Add dumplings, a few at a time, and stir occasionally. Cook about 20 to 25 minutes on low heat.

Dumplings: Mix flour, shortening and water and knead. Roll out on floured surface paper thin and cut into short strips. Drop into boiling chicken.
