SWEET TARALLE | |
8 eggs 1/2 c. Mazola oil 1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar 2 oz. brandy 2 tsp. vanilla 2 tbsp. grated orange peel Self-rising flour These keep well. Beat eggs until light and fluffy, slowly add sugar and beat until sugar is dissolved. VERY SLOWLY add brandy - too fast and you cook the eggs. Add oil, vanilla and orange peel, mix well, add flour until mixture gets too thick for beaters. Dump mixture onto a WELL FLOURED bread board. Add flour until you have a soft dough. Cut off pieces of dough and roll the width of a pencil. Cut off pieces any length you want to make any shape you want. Be creative, make braids, knots, pretzels, bows, etc. Be careful not to make them too big as they rise pretty good while baking. Space about 2 inches apart on slightly greased cookie sheet. I always use parchment paper when I make cookies. You never have to grease, you can use paper over and over until it turns brown and it keeps your cookie sheet clean. Bake cookies at 350 degrees until brown on bottom. Cool and dip top of cookie in icing. Sprinkle with candy (optional). Let dry. ICING: Powdered sugar Enough orange juice or lemon juice to make a thin icing You can add orange or lemon peel to icing or you can sprinkle top of taralle with nonparells. |
