CHRISTMAS ROLL 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
1 pinch cream of tartar
3 tbsp. butter
1/4 c. chopped nutmeats
1/4 c. chopped dates
1/4 c. chopped raisins
1/4 c. chopped figs
1/4 c. chopped candied cherries
1 tbsp. honey

Boil sugar, water, cream of tartar and butter to the soft ball stage. Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients. Mix together thoroughly. Turn out on flat surface. Knead until soft and pliable. Next form into a roll 1 1/2 to 2 inches in diameter. Let cool and store in the refrigerator to ripen, about 2 weeks. Then it may be sliced and decorated as desired. May be rolled in finely grated nuts or fine coconut.
