GRANDMA'S HOLIDAY QUICKY FRUIT
CAKE (EA)
 
1 box muscat raisins
2 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 can applesauce
1 tbsp. baking soda
3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
4 oz. chopped black walnuts
2 tsp. rum flavoring
1 c. candied fruits

Cook raisins in water for 10 minutes, drain and save water. Cream butter, sugar and add applesauce. To this add drained raisins. To the water from the raisins add the soda. Sift dry ingredients and add to the butter, applesauce mixture. Add water mixture. Add nuts, flavoring and fruits and mix well. Pour into greased tube pan and bake in moderate oven, 375 degrees for about 1 hour. Pour a thin icing, rum flavored, over top and decorate with cherries and citron.
