OLD FASHION TEA CAKES 
1/2 lb. butter
1 tbsp. shortening
2 3/4 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. buttermilk
5 c. flour (all-purpose)
2 eggs
4 tsp. vanilla extract
4 tsp. baking powder

Cream butter and shortening together. Add sugar and cream and mix well. Mix beaten eggs, baking soda dissolved in buttermilk and vanilla. Add this to butter mixture and mix well. Now mix flour and baking powder and add this to mixture and mix well again.

To make the teacake: Put a small ball of the dough on sheet of floured wax paper and flatten with the bottom of a glass.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350°F for 10 to 15 minutes.
