CHOCOLATE OATMEAL CAKE 
3/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. rolled oats
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. cocoa

Pour boiling water over oatmeal and let stand for 15 minutes. Beat butter and then add sugar and beat until fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Beat again. Add oat mixture; mix well. Sift flour, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix in cocoa. Add to creamed mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes in an 8 x 8 inch pan.
