HAMBURGER SOUP 
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
1 onion, chopped
1 (28 oz.) can tomatoes
2 cans beef consomme
2 cans water
4 carrots, sliced thin
4 celery tops, chopped
1 1/2 tsp. thyme
Salt (very little)
10 peppercorns
1/2 c. barley

Brown the ground beef and onion together; drain. Add rest of ingredients. Simmer, covered, for a minimum of 1 hour.
