STACK CAKE 
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1/4 c. molasses
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. buttermilk

Cream sugar, butter and egg; beat it all well again. Mix in 1/4 cup molasses. Sift together 1 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg fresh scraped, 1/4 teaspoon allspice, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon salt. Mix into the butter, sugar, and eggs back and forth (alternating) with 1/4 cup buttermilk. You may have to add a bit more flour as you work it to make dough stiff enough to handle. Knead on floured board. Divide in 5 parts. Pat each part out in a greased flowered cake pan. Bake about 10 minutes at 370 degrees. Spread cooked dried fruit sweetened on layers and stack up.
