TRUE GINGER BREAD | |
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened 1/2 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar 1/4 cup molasses 1/4 cup dark corn syrup 1 egg 1/4 tsp. salt 1 1/2 Cups flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 cup buttermilk 2 oz. fresh gingerroot, peeled and grated Preheat oven to 350. grease an 8 inch square pan. In bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, cream together butter and sugar. Add molasses, corn syrup, egg, and salt and beat until smooth. In another bowl, sift together flour and baking soda. Stir in half the flour mixture to the butter mixture with half of the buttermilk. Repeat mix in ginger until well blended. Spread into prepared baking pan. Bake 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. |
