FRESH PEAR CAKE 
2 c. sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans (optional)
1 1/2 c. Wesson oil or 2 sticks butter and 1/2 oil
2 c. chopped or shredded pears
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3 eggs

Mix flour, salt and soda and nuts in mixing bowl. Mix sugar, oil, eggs, vanilla and pears. Mix together. Pour into tube pan or two layer pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Cake is very moist.

My family and friends love this cake! When people ask for the recipe, I give them the recipe and a bag of pears from the tree in my yard. It is a wonderful dessert for autumn.
