DANISH APPLE CHARLOTTE 
2 lb. boiled apples
1/4 lb. butter
1/2 lb. coarse dried breadcrumbs
3 tsp. sugar
3 tbsp. chopped blanched almonds
1 pt. whipping cream
Red currant jelly or strawberry jam

Mix the dried breadcrumbs with sugar and the chopped almonds. Melt the butter on a pan and in this gently heat the mixture of breadcrumbs over a low heat, stirring all the time, until it is golden brown and crisp. Cool in the pan. Just before serving place a layer of breadcrumbs and a layer of the boiled apple, and so alternately, in a glass dish. Decorate with whipped cream and jelly or jam.
