DAY BEFORE FRENCH TOAST | |
6-8 slices French or Italian bread, cut on the diagonal into 3/4 inch slices 3 eggs 1 c. milk 3 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1 tsp. vanilla 3 tbsp. melted butter Arrange bread in single layer in 9x13 inch pan. Combine eggs, milk, sugar, salt and vanilla. Beat until smooth. Pour over bread. Turn slices to coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate overnight. To cook, melt butter in skillet or on grill. Remove bread slices from egg mixture. Saute in heated pan until golden, about 5 minutes on each side. Serve with syrup, preserves, powdered sugar or topping of choice. |
