APPLE TAFFY 
6 red apples
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. water
Few grains salt
1/2 tsp. red food color
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Wash, dry apples; combine sugar, syrup, water and salt, low heat until dissolved. Boil, NO stirring, to 270 degrees. Remove from heat; blend in coloring and vanilla. Twirl apples on stick and stand on greased baking sheet to cool. Makes 6 large apples.
