GRAHAM DATE PUDDING 
4 c. graham cracker crumbs
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. milk

Blend crackers and baking powder. Cream shortening; add sugar. Separate egg; add yolk, salt, and vanilla to cream mixture. Beat well. Stir in dates and nuts. Add crackers alternately with milk. Fold in stiffly beaten egg white. Turn into large coffee can and steam until cooked (about 3 hours).
