5 c. self-rising flour 1 c. shortening (Crisco) 1 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1 c. buttermilk Dissolve yeast in warm water 1/4 cup. Cut in shortening into flour. Mix in yeast and milk to make a dough. Roll on floured board to a 1/4" thickness. Cut and place on ungreased pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. Brush with melted butter when done. Keep remaining dough in air tight container and use as needed. Will keep in refrigerator 2 weeks. The last of the dough is as good as the first. This is the recipe some fast food chains use for their biscuits. |
