OATMEAL BARS 
1 c. quick cooking oatmeal
1 c. white sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Pour boiling water over oatmeal; let stand 20 minutes. Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and vanilla. Stir in oatmeal and dry ingredients. Pour on 15 x 10 inch greased pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 375 degrees.

FROSTING:

6 tbsp. butter
1 c. brown sugar
4 tbsp. milk
1/2 c. coconut

Boil all ingredients except coconut for 1 1/2 minutes. Remove and stir in coconut. Beat well and spread on warm bars while frosting is thin.
