BAKLAVA | |
1 pkg. phyllo leaves 1 lb. unsalted butter 1 1/2 lb. finely chopped walnuts 1 c. honey 1/2 c. water 1 c. sugar You need a large oblong pan (larger than 13 x 9). Melt butter. Mix sugar and walnuts together. Take 3 of your phyllo leaves and lay them on the bottom of pan. Baste leaves with butter. Take a handful of walnut and sugar mixture and place on top of buttered leaves. Repeat until there are 5 leaves left for the top. Score the top of the 5 leaves in diamond shapes. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown (20 to 30 minutes). Cool. Heat up honey and water mixture and pour on top of baklava. |
