APPLE FILLED OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. milk
2 c. quick-cooking oats

APPLE FILLING:

1 c. apples, unpared and diced
1/4 c. raisins
1/4 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. water

Cream together butter and sugar; beat until fluffy. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Stir in oats. Set aside about 3/4 cup of dough.

Drop remaining dough from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Make small depression in center of each cookie. Top with apple filling and small amount of reserved dough. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

To make the apple filling: Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Cook, stirring constantly for 10 minutes or until the mixture is thick and the apples are tender. Cool.

Makes 36 cookies.
