BUTTER SHORTBREAD 
1 lb. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
4 c. flour
1/2 c. cornstarch

1. Cream together butter and sugar.

2. Add flour and cornstarch. Mix until smoothly blended.

3. Roll to 1/2" thick. Cut into small shapes (stars, circles, squares, whatever). Fork prick tops.

4. Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 300 degrees for 25 minutes, until set but not brown.

These are very simple, buttery cookies, especially good for teas or holidays.
