BURIED TREASURE COOKIES 
10 oz. maraschino cherries
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. canned sweet milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
6 oz. chocolate chips

Drain cherries, reserving juice. Mix flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix butter and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well. Add flour mixture, mixing well. Shape into 1 inch balls pressing down the center of each with thumb. Place cherry in dent.

For Frosting: Combine chocolate and milk, melting over low heat. Stir in 4 teaspoons cherry juice. Spoon 1 teaspoon frosting over each cherry spreading to cover. Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
