CHRISTMAS STOLLEN 
5 1/2-6 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. salt
2 pkgs. yeast
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. water
3 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. mixed candied fruit
1/3 c. raisins
Confectioners' icing

Thoroughly mix 2 cups flour, sugar, salt and yeast. Combine milk, water and butter (2/3 cup) in saucepan. Heat over low heat until liquids are warm. butter doesn't need to melt. Gradually add to dry ingredients, beat 2 minutes at medium speed. Add eggs and 1/2 to 1 cup flour - beat at speed 2 minutes. Add enough flour to make dough. Knead 10 minutes. Place in greased bowl - let rise almost 1 1/2 hours. Punch down. Knead in fruits. Divide into 3 rolls in 12 x 7 inch rectangles and fold in half. Put on greased sheets. Let rise 45 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
