POPPY SEED CAKE 
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
4 egg yolks
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 can Solo poppy seed
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 pt. (1 c.) sour cream
4 beaten egg whites

Cream butter (butter) and sugar until creamy. Then add beaten egg yolks; mix well. Sift flour and baking soda together. Add to creamy mixture; blend well. Add poppy seed and sour cream; mix until blended. Then fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in well greased and floured tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Sprinkle cooled cake with powdered sugar or ice.

BUTTER ICING:

2 tsp. flour
3 tsp. water

Mix to paste, add to 1/2 cup boiling water. Cook until smooth (about 5 minutes). Stir constantly. Then let cool.

Cream together: 1/3 c. Crisco 1/2 c. sugar

Add to cooled paste and beat until fluffy.
