1 pkg. Duncan Hines chocolate cake mix (any variety)
1 egg
1/3 c. oil
1/3 c. water
1 c. chocolate chips
1 c. nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together all ingredients until just blended. Bake in a greased 9 x 13 inch pan for 23 minutes. (Brownies will appear not quite set.) Cool in pan and cut into 24 brownie bars.
