CANADIAN WAR CAKE 
2 c. water
2 c. brown sugar
1 box raisins
1 or more c. English walnuts
1 tsp. allspice
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 stick butter
3 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder

Mix together water, brown sugar, raisins, walnuts, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg. Let boil 5 minutes - dorp in butter and let cool. After it cools add - flour, salt and baking powder and mix well. Put in cake pans and bake at 325 degrees until done.

FILLING:

1 1/2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. milk
1 1/2 sticks butter

Mix together white sugar, brown sugar, milk and butter. Boil until forms soft ball in cold water. Spread over layers.
