M.'S SPECIAL CHILI | |
4-5 lb. ground turkey 2 yellow onions, chopped Salt to taste Pepper to taste 1 bunch celery, chopped 2 (28 oz.) cans whole tomatoes, drained (reserve juice) Garlic, to taste (optional) Chili powder to taste (optional) 2 (28 oz.) cans chili beans (in sauce) 2 (16 oz.) cans kidney beans, drained & rinsed 2 (16 oz.) cans blackeyed peas, drained & rinsed 1 (6 1/2 oz.) can tomato paste 1-1 1/2 lb. mesquite smoked beef sausage Sliced jalapenos, optional Brown turkey and onions in large Dutch oven. Salt and pepper to taste. Add celery and tomatoes. Season with garlic and chili powder if desired. Stir in beans, peas and tomato paste. Reduce heat to low. Slice sausage into chunks and add to mixture. Add jalapenos for hot and spicy version. Cover and simmer for 1 hour. Makes 8 quarts. Great to leave in a crock pot on low all day as kids come and go. We always make our first pot of the season when the first pre-season football game is on! |
