SMOTHERED HAMBURGER PATTIES
1 lb. ground chuck
1/2 c. Crisco
Salt & pepper
1/3 c. flour
1 1/3 c. water

Make up meat into thick patties. Salt and pepper each side. Coat with flour. Melt Crisco in a skillet. Brown patties on both sides. Take out of skillet. Brown the 1/3 cup flour in the skillet. Let it cook slowly until the flour is a dark brown. Add meat patties back into the skillet. Add 1 1/3 cups water.

Turn heat down after it bubbles to between low and medium. Cook about 30 minutes with lid on until gravy is thick and meat is done. Check at least once to see if there is enough water in the meat to cook and have gravy left.

Great recipe. I browned some onion in the grease before adding the flour. Also, I had to use 2 cups of water instead of just 1 1/3. The gravy also needed a little salt. Thanks...I enjoyed it!!

Thanks, great simple but delicious recipe. I added onions when browning my flour as well as more water, salt and pepper. Was looking for a less complicated recipe. Thanks so much!!
