1 box (2 lb.) phyllo dough 1 1/2 lb. walnuts 1 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 lb. unsalted butter 1 1/2 c. honey Use a shallow baking sheet (about 8 x 12 x 1 1/2 inches deep). Defrost the phyllo dough and spread flat. Keep the phyllo dough covered with a damp cloth. It dries out very quickly. Grease the pan with butter. Using one sheet of dough at a time, place on baking sheet and dot lightly with butter. Place 2 leaves of dough on top. Dot with butter, lay one phyllo leaf on top, dot with butter, then 2 leaves. Continue until 1/2 the box is used. Grind the walnuts and mix with sugar and cinnamon. Spread the nut mixture evenly on the phyllo in the pan. Using the rest of the leaves, dot with butter in the same manner as before. Bake at 350°F for 45-60 minutes. Pour honey over. |
