GRANDMA HELEN'S GERMAN APPLE
KUECHEN
 
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 to 6 apples, peeled and sliced
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla or lemon flavoring
1/2 c. cinnamon and sugar

Cream together egg, butter, and sugar. Add milk, flour, baking powder, salt, and flavoring. For coloring: A few drops of yellow coloring can be added. Mix well. Pour into 9 x 13 inch greased and floured pan. Place apple slices into dough in rows across pan, with outside apple segments facing up. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. 20 servings. This is a good German recipe that Grandma Helen had gotten from her Mom!
