LEMON LOAF CAKE 
3 c. flour
3 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
1 c. buttermilk
6 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. lemon flavoring

Blend shortening and sugar. Add egg yolks, one at a time and blend. Stir in lemon flavoring. Sift dry ingredients, add to cake batter with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Beat egg whites until very stiff. Fold in. Bake in greased and floured tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes. Be sure top crust is firm. Do not ice.
