SOFT RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. flour

Bring raisins and water to a boil, simmer 5 minutes, uncovered. Set aside to cool. Cream sugar and shortening. Beat into cream mixture, eggs and vanilla. Add raisins. Mix together all dry ingredients and combine with cream mixture. Drop by spoonfuls. Bake 12 minutes at 375 degrees.
