KENTUCKY KERNELS 
1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 (7 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped
2 1/2 c. Rice Krispies
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Cook first 5 ingredients in saucepan over low heat until thick. Cool. Slowly add Rice Krispies and nuts. Cool more. Shape into balls and roll in flaked coconut.

Would give this 100 stars if possible. I found this recipe accidentally looking for something else beginning with the word Kentucky. WOW! (I had a pack of dates to use). Just finished this recipe up to step of adding cereal & nuts - then letting it cool more before shaping into balls. CANNOT keep from dipping into this fabulous creation.
