1 egg
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. boiling water

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 8-inch square pan. Put ingredients into bowl in order given. DO NOT mix until the last item is added. Beat until well blended and bake for 35 minutes.
