CARAMELIZED APPLES 
6 lg. firm apples
5 tbsp. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1-2 oz. sliced almonds

Grease an ovenproof dish with 2 tablespoons butter. Peel and core apples and brush with 2 tablespoon melted butter. Roll apples in about 1/2 cup sugar and place in dish. Bake apples in oven at 400 degrees for 10-20 minutes.

Melt remaining sugar in a frying pan without stirring. When sugar is lightly browned, remove from heat. Stir in remaining butter. Take apples out of oven; fill with almonds and pour caramel over.
