MINNESOTA HARVEST BARS 
1/4 c. shortening
3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 eggs
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2/3 c. canned pumpkin
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

In large saucepan melt shortening over low heat. Remove from heat. Add remaining ingredients. Blend well. Pour into greased 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool; cut into bars.
