CHOCOLATE MOUNTAIN COOKIES 
2 c. brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs, well beaten
1 c. milk
3 c. flour
4 oz. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. nuts (pecans)
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy. Add eggs. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with milk. Add nuts and vanilla. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes at 350 degrees. When cool, ice with a chocolate icing. Yield: 8 dozen.
