PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES 
3/4 c. Jif creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. Crisco shortening
1 1/4 c. firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tbsp. milk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda

1. Heat oven to 375 degrees.

2. Combine peanut butter, Crisco, light brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl.

3. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended.

4. Add egg and beat until blended.

5. Combine flour, salt and baking soda.

6. Add to creamed mixture at low speed.

7. Mix until blended.

8. Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Variation: Flatten slightly in criss-cross pattern with tines of fork.

9. Bake at 375 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes, or until set and just beginning to brown.

10. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet before removing to kitchen counter top. Yield: 3 dozen cookies.
