ICE BOX COOKIES 
1/2 c. butter (1 stick)
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour (all purpose)
1/2 c. maraschino cherries, cut small
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. sliced almonds

Mix and divide dough into about 5 rolls on wax paper and refrigerate several hours or overnight. Slice and bake. Bake at 325-350 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
