1 c. brown sugar (dark)
3-4 slices bread, cubed (white)
3 beaten eggs and 2 c. milk (together)
1 tsp. vanilla, add to egg mixture

Put brown sugar in bottom of top of double boiler. Put in bread over sugar. Add egg, milk and vanilla mixture over all. DO NOT STIR. Cook in double boiler for 1 hour. Serve hot. Top with caramel ice cream.
