AUNT VONNA'S COFFEE CAKE 
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla

TOPPING:

1 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. brown sugar

Cream shortening, sugar and eggs together. Fold in sour cream and vanilla carefully, then sifted dry ingredients. Spoon half of batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Cover with half the topping, then repeat. End up with thin layer of batter to hold nuts. Bake at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes. Cool almost completely before removing from pan. Sprinkle top with confectioners' sugar.
