OATMEAL BUNS | |
1 c. oatmeal 2 c. boiling water 1/2 c. molasses 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. oil 1/2 tsp. salt 8 c. flour (or more) 2 pkg. yeast in 1/2 c. warm water Pour 2 c. boiling water over oatmeal and let set while preparing the rest. Put yeast in 1/2 cup warm water and set aside. Mix together molasses, sugar, beaten eggs, oil and salt, then mix all the above ingredients together with enough flour to make a stiff dough. Put in large pan and let rise to double. Punch down and set aside to double again. Then shape into buns. Let buns rise, then bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 30 minutes. Makes a large batch, about 6 dozen buns. Mmm good! |
